OFFENDING SERVICES

When and where do you advertise? We advertise approximately twice a year for YOS Officers and YOS Support Officers, usually in April and October. Other vacancies are advertised as they arise. All of our jobs appear on the Manchester City Council website and in its publication ‘Jobs Update’ which is available from Manchester Town Hall or Libraries around Manchester. We also advertise in the Manchester Evening News and occasionally in the Guardian on a Tuesday.

What qualifications and experience do I need to apply for the jobs?
We look for candidates with experience in the Youth Justice field (e.g. Referral order panels), and in working with Young People and their families. For officer level roles, the qualifications we seek are either the PCEP (Professional Certificate in Effective Practice) which is run by the YJB, or a qualification in a related field e.g. DipSW, Youth Work qualification, Probation qualification. For Support Officer roles we do not require a qualification but evidence of working with Young People, and knowledge of the Criminal Justice System is highly desirable.
